👨💻 About the Role
We're excited to announce an opportunity for a General Manager to be a part of our expanding team in the China! As we grow both steadily and swiftly, we're embarking on numerous new projects. For these ventures, we require a senior leader based in China to provide consistent, on-the-ground leadership across the Production and Quality teams.
Please note that this role will be situated at our office in Dongguan, China, working on-site from Monday-Friday. The normal working hours will be 9am - 6:30pm CST.
👋 About You
As the China General Manager at Mous, you'll work collaboratively with our New Product Development (NPD) team, Engineering team, Quality team, and Production team. You will report directly to Will Mullen, our Chief Production Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to contribute to a fast-paced environment, playing a crucial role in driving our projects to successful completion with precision and efficiency.
🔑Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the local HR lead for the China office, supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management and team development processes in coordination with the global People team.
- Collaborate on setting and meeting the department’s operating budget, including travel and office costs, ensuring efficient and responsible spending.
- Manage general office operations, facilities and key service contracts, ensuring smooth day-to-day function.
- Ensure compliance with local employment laws, health & safety standards and internal company policies.
- Champion internal communication, team culture and engagement within the China office, reinforcing company values, supporting team development and maintaining operational discipline in alignment with global priorities and expectations.
- Directly Line manage Production - Planning and Control team and Quality teams
- Ensure on-time delivery, cost control and product quality from China-based suppliers.
- Act as the escalation point for daily issues, production risk and supplier challenges.
- Monitor and improve KPIs, vendor scorecards and performance tracking.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with global Engineering, Sourcing, and procurement teams
✔️How will success be measured?
- The Production and Quality teams in China are high-performing and self-sufficient, with strong morale and minimal intervention needed from the CPO.
- Supplier performance improves year-on-year across lead time, quality and cost metrics.
- China operations are seen as a consistent engine of delivery, with fewer escalations and a proactive culture.
- Improvement in department OKRs (e.g. On-Time Delivery, Quality Metrics, Supplier Scorecards)
- Increased eNPS or team satisfaction scores in the China office
- Escalations reduced; issues resolved faster with fewer dependencies
- Supplier management becomes more structured and performance-focused
🤓Skills requirements:
- Hard skills:
- 8+ years working in production/supply chain roles in China, preferably in consumer tech or accessories
- Experience leading multi-functional teams (production, quality, engineering)
- Strong vendor management, contract manufacturing, and negotiation capabilities
- High Level of English and fluent Mandarin
- Advanced understanding of DFM, NPI and quality management systems (ISO, AQL etc.)
- Soft skills:
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to build trust and credibility
- Detail-oriented and execution-driven, with strong problem-solving skills
- Low ego, collaborative and culturally aware
- High emotional intelligence and communication skills
- Comfortable with fast-paced, evolving business environments
