👨💻 About the Role
We're excited to announce an opportunity for a Mechanical Process Engineer (Phone Cases) to be a part of our expanding team in the China! As we grow both steadily and swiftly, you will be a key player in the design and development of our phone cases, with a strong focus on product design and reliability integration. This role requires a technically proficient individual who can lead the development of a high-performance structures, ensuring they meet rigorous testing requirements and industry standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including external partners, to optimize the design process and ensure our products remain at the forefront of the market.
Please note that this role will be situated at our office in China, working on-site from Monday-Friday. The normal working hours will be 9am – 6:30pm.
👋 About You
As an MPE at Mous, you'll work collaboratively with our New Product Development (NPD) team, Engineering team, Quality team, and Production team. You will report directly to Colin, our Lead MPE. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to contribute to a fast-paced environment, playing a crucial role in driving our projects to successful completion with precision and efficiency.
🔑Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a design solution to mitigate risk through the DFM analysis process.
- Lead the product development process, be able to manage all enquiries and issues with limited input from line manager.
- Lead development projects regarding process, material, and design improvements within our product range.
- Provide solid suggestions based on product requirements.
- Work proactively to resolve the issues with limited input from the leader.
- Optimize development processes with vendors, ensure the quickest timelines for TF, through supporting vendors with process parameters and operational controls.
✔️How will success be measured?
- Average PI ratio reduction YoY
- Agreed project milestone vs actuals.
- Implementation of KPI to measure “Lead time of solving critical issues”
- Continuous improvement YOY.
🤓Skills requirements:
- Experience with phone case design and development or consumer electronic products background.
- Understanding product design, tooling technologies, material types and processes for Phone case.
- Good knowledge of engineering plastics and molding techniques (PC, TPU, TPE, ABS, PA66). Familiarity with metals (stamping and die-casting) would be a plus.
- Familiar with the post process would be a big plus (silk-screen, UV coating, PU coating, assembly, etc.)
- Knowledge of DFX in terms of feasibility, quality, post process (printing, coating, assembly etc.) and cost. Be able to do the evaluation innovatively based on product requirements.
- Understanding testing standards. Be able to lead the testing jig design, carry out the crucial testing and fix the failure model.
- Be able to & verify the assemble jigs and process.
- Experienced with quality control (FAI, SPC, CPK). Be able to collect the data and do the analysis throughout the MP to reduce the variation.
- Rich experience in troubleshooting and communication with technicians.
- Understanding of the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
- Experience with SolidWorks for design and simulation.
- Effective communication skills and self-motivation.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong teamwork with the ability to upskill his colleagues
- Confident to lead a function and get results once aligned with line manager
